From pop star to Pop Beauty: Meet Sara Strand
We sat down with Pop Beauty's founder and International Makeup Artist Sara Strand in anticipation of her whirlwind tour of Aus, and got the low-down on makeup, music and the living in the uk...
Q. What are the latest trends in beauty coming out of London? 
A. London is the buzzing city of a thousands trends, it’s hard to pinpoint one. One of my personal favourites at the moment however must be the neon’s! Bright eyes in dazzling shades (try Pop’s Lid Neon). There are many variations on this trend, you can go really traffic stopping neon (like a bright blue or green, or for the daring, yellow) or you can add just a touch of neon with a really bright liner (like Pop’s Eyeliner in turquoise) or a bright lip (try Pop’s NEW Lip Lust in flirty fuchsia).
Q. How have you incorporated these trends into the newest Pop products?
A. Pop is always slightly ahead :) The neon trend is set by the show stopping Lid Neon. All the perfect neon pops you need in one compact. As summer is coming up the NEW Tan Popper is irresistible as well!
Q. What are you totally addicted to at the moment?
A. I never leave home without the Lash Kapow!!! That mascara is amazing! It’s thickening and lengthening and takes you from the office to dinner, dinner to club, club to afterparty, afterparty to a dip in the pool and it will still be on! Don’t take my word for it - try it yourself :)
Q. How has growing up in Sweden influenced your design aesthetic? Did it have any influence on your creative take on makeup?
A. Probably in some ways, the light in Sweden is amazing! All colours in nature really pop! But I think London has made more of a foot print in my creativeness than Sweden. 
I moved to London when I was 16 and was overwhelmed with the impressions of fashion, music and street art (like these great london graffiti legs, left). Also I have been travelling the world with my work since a young age - I think Pop is a concoction of that gypsy gene.
Q. Before Pop Beauty was founded you spent time being a pop star in Sweden… Which songs are on high rotation on your I-pod right now?
A. That’s a hard question since I am a total music fanatic ;) At the moment I’m really into folk rock like The Little Feet, Joni Mitchell, The Band so on. But I also love funk and blues. I thought Amy Winehouse album Back
to Black was a work of art music-wise.
Q. Where do you look for inspiration when creating the hottest new beauty products at Pop?
A. Nature, the different places I visit, people, music. I love art and get inspired by that too. Also I look for what’s missing in my makeup bag or for what I need as an makeup artist - is there any effect I haven’t been able to achieve? Then POP needs to be that product.
Q. What are your favourite shopping destinations in London?
A. I love the London markets. Newburgh St, Carnaby St and surrounding areas are great as well as Portobello Rd.
Q. Can you reveal any upcoming new products that kit customers can look forward to from POP?
A. There will be some really exciting things happening... the one thing I can tell you is that you will be able to achieve the perfect rock’n’roll eyes with no effort at all :)
Q. What is the #1, can’t-live-without Pop product that every kit customer must have? 
A. Sparkle Sauce and NEW Lash Kapow!!! should be in every girls makeup bag!
Q. Can you describe your own personal sense of style? Has it influenced the overall style of POP Beauty?
A. I am a chameleon. Style is about accessorizing a feeling. That differs from day to day. I feel the same about makeup. POP is like the perfect colour palette for every day and every feeling.
